Graham L. Copley

Senior Advisor, Energy and Environment

Graham Copley is a senior advisor to Grayson & Co. He is a partner at Pentant, a leading advisory, consulting, and research firm focused on the global chemical, energy, and financial services industries.

Previously, Graham was co-founder of C-MACC, a Houston-based strategy and research consulting firm, and CEO of Issaquena Green Power. He has spent 40 years in and around chemicals and associated industries. His depth of industry and geographic experience enables him to assist clients in a wide spectrum of consulting and advisory roles. At C-MACC, Graham managed the bespoke side of the business. He also assisted with market fundamentals, provided editorial input into daily and weekly reports, and maintained oversight of the firm’s thematic thought leadership.

Prior, Graham was head of industrials and basic industries research at SSR. During his tenure, Graham served as chief executive officer and lead board director of BioNitrogen Holding Corp., steering the company through Chapter 11 restructuring.

Earlier in his career, Graham was an executive director and head of U.S. equities for Macquarie Capital USA. Throughout that time, he served as board director of Macquarie Securities USA; a Compliance Committee director; a 401(k) Advisory Board director; a member of Macquarie’s U.S. Management Committee; and director of the “Women in Macquarie” Advisory Group. Prior to Macquarie, Graham was head of global equity research at HSBC. His group included 185 analysts and associates globally and an offshoring operation in India with an additional 100 analysts. The onshore research group was run out of 12 global offices.

His chemical industry focus began with an early career at BP Chemicals. He later progressed for a decade in consulting with Chemical Market Associates Inc. (CMAI), now part of IHS Markit. Graham also spent eight years with Sanford C. Bernstein, where he became a top-ranked U.S. chemical research analyst.

Graham is a dual citizen and earned his chemical engineering and business studies degree from Imperial College London. A native of the United Kingdom, he currently resides in Houston, Texas.
